I’m Kim Townend. That’s me on the right.
I’m a social media consultant. This means at various times, I’ve worked with and enjoyed all aspects of social media including but not limited to; social media strategy, community management, blogger outreach, content strategy, social analytics, paid social, distribution strategy, and copywriting.
I know my way around all the social platforms, old and new, big and small. I can help you use Pinterest to sell direct or show you how to make people feel warm and fluffy about your brand using Snapchat. I’m always championing Tumblr as an under-utilised home for the right kind of brands and broadcasters too.
These days I work primarily with TV broadcasters and entertainment brands, and social TV in all its facets – has become my specialist area.
I’m not a fan of buzzwords; I prefer writing good, simple strategy that gets the results my clients are looking for, using the right platform for them and their fans, not the biggest or the one that’s hottest this week. Creative thinking and a love of efficiency have served me well in this pursuit.
I am fascinated with fandoms. It’s always been my strategy to start with the nerds and work outwards.
I feel that finding the people who will love your brand/show/book/product and talking to them in their language is imperative to creating a sustainable social media strategy.

I like to work with good people; I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the best agencies in the UK alongside some of the friendliest start-ups, I’ve even run the digital comms for a government department and authored the GOVUK social media playbook.
